Petur was an amazing guide for our Golden Circle tour. There were 4 of us, older adults with one who had some mobility limitations. Petur was very accommodating! He made sure she was comfortable and yet still managed to provide ample opportunities for the others in our group to walk to all the desired viewpoints. He was flexible with our itinerary and offered options to fit our interests. His van which can fit up to 16 passengers was modern, clean and very comfortable. He provided water for us and treated us to history as well as local folktales during the drives. I highly recommend Petur to any travelers who wish an amazing experience touring Iceland!

We were being thrilled with Peter. He was friendly, knowledgeable, professional and made our two days worth him special. His Mercedes can provided us with comfortable transportation. As "mature" adults each your was tailored to our physical needs. His recommendations were always spot on. Petur led us on the South Coast tour and provided airport pickup at Keflavik. On the way to our hotel, he introduced us to Reykjavik and numerous sites along the way. By the end of our time together, we felt like family! I highly recommend Petur and know you will be more than pleased.

This was a spectacular day and Pétur was the absolute best! He was warm, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and made our trip that much better. We saw so much packed into one day but he also let us set our own pace as we needed. He made time for additional quick stops along the way to get some ice cream, pet some horses, and visit a tomato farm too! I highly recommend Pétur and this tour!

Petur was the highlight of our trip around the Golden Circle. From the very beginning of our booking, he was easy to work with, communicated timely, answered all our questions, personalized our trip. Just based on our emails during booking I was anxious to meet him and he did not disappoint. He was flexible and met every request. We enjoyed getting to know him and we feel he is now a part of our family. All 12 of us talked about him and our experience throughout our time in Iceland. It was the best start to a 7 day adventure. Our full-day South Coast tour with Petur was fabulous! We boarded his very comfortable Mercedes van in Reykjavik and followed the southern coastal Ring Road. Along the way, we saw beautiful scenery and dramatic landscapes, including waterfalls, volcanos, glaciers and black sand beaches. Highlights included the Seljarlandsfoss and Skogarfoss waterfalls, the Solheimajoukull outlet glacier, the unique rock formations at Dyrholaey, the Reynisfjara black sand beach with its basalt columns, and the coastal village of Vik. Along the way Petur shared his immense knowledge of the area. It was fascinating, and we learned so much from him. He was so friendly, kind, and accommodating, adapting the tour to our interests and pace. A high point was when he helped us walk behind the Seljarlandsfoss waterfall – a challenge due to the rain, and a very memorable experience. This tour with Petur was the highlight of our vacation. We look forward to future tours with him when we return to Iceland. Highly recommended.

Doing this tour made our trip so much more enjoyable than had we done the Golden Circle on our own. Petur was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable, and just fun to be around. This tour of the Golden Circle was everything it says and more. First I would like to say all of my communications with Pétur from the beginning to the end was perfect! He answered all my questions and even when there was ship delays and day changes, etc… Pétur was super flexible. and we were able to take the tour. He met us just as he said at the port and told us exactly where and what we would be doing for the day. He has a brand new van the was super comfortable and because he is local he answered all of our questions. He kept us entertained with many stories of Iceland. I would recommend Pétur and Toursbylocals to anyone traveling to Iceland and want to customize a tour for yourself!

We took a private tour of Iceland with Petur. Petur is truly a local and was extremely knowledgeable about this magical place. There were six adults in our party and Petur picked us up at the Cruise Port in an extremely comfortable van (could probably accommodate 10 or more people). Petur showed us his beautiful Iceland (Golden Circle Tour) and was very knowledgeable and experienced about Iceland History, landmarks and culture. He made our tour fun, exciting and educational. BTW, ask him about the Northern lights. He explained this phenomenon better than anybody I've ever heard or read. Truly a very smart guy. He took us to all the important places you should see on the Golden Circle but also took us to some places that only a local would know about. He made it fun. Highly recommend Petur. You won't be disappointed with this tour. Worth every penny!

Petur was an extraordinary guide. He was thorough, professional, helpful and made the day a terrific experience for 10 of us. His vehicle was very comfortable, and he took great care of us. Most important, he was excellent at staying in touch beforehand, determining what we wanted our of the day, and delivering a memorable experience. Awesome Golden Circle Tour with guide Petur Helgason- the bus was comfortable, we had plenty of time at all the tourist sites and he accommodated a couple extra stops for us and some less known but wonderful historic and fun places - it all made for a perfect first day in Iceland! We were so impressed with Petur Helgason's professionalism. He was prompt, informative, caring, and knowledgeable. His vehicle was wonderful. I am disabled and had no trouble entering it. We used his services on 3 tours. We especially liked the tour of the Southern Coast. If you want a private tour, this is the one for you. We even stopped for baked goods and ice cream after a long flight.

Absolutely Fabulous. Pétur was waiting for us as soon as we disembarked our ship with a fantastic Mercedes Sprinter van that had heaps of room for our group of 6. It was clean and a very comfortable ride. Péturr is a very knowledgeable guide, great history of Iceland and geological information was told to us during our drive. Going out early meant at quite a few stops we avoided the tour buses. It was a spectacular day, the scenery, the sights, Petúr’s stories all combined to make it a wonderful experience. Our stop for lunch and Pétur’s recommendation of the local lamb soup just topped it off. Thank you Pétur.

We couldnt have dreamed of a better tour with Petur. The personalised nature of the tour as well as Petur’s insights, stories and humor is unmatchable. We loved hearing of all generations in his family…what a treasure! The Sights and driving were stellar and his accommodating one passenger from our group of 7 who has difficulty walking was perfect. This was our second day in a row with Petur. What an amazing tour. Peter was, once again, kind, gracious and a total pro at what he does. We learned so much about Iceland in our two days with Petur and the Southern Coast is absolutely breathtaking. The waterfalls, the glacier, the black sand beaches - it was literally jaw dropping. But honestly, Petur was the highlight. We are so thankful for the time that we got to spend with him. He is passionate about his homeland and has so much knowledge to share. Thank you, Petur. We spent an incredible day with Petur on the Golden Circle tour. Petur is knowledgeable, kind, gracious and very personable. His vehicle is comfortable, very roomy and impeccably clean. He is an ultimate professional and has meticulously created this tour to be entertaining and memorable. In addition to the three main Golden Circle stops, we went to a lovely tomato farm, the Secret Lagoon for a wonderful soak, a little farm for delicious ice cream, a quick stop to feed some Icelandic horses, and the Kerid Crater. What a day! We will never forget it, nor will we forget Petur. Book this tour - you will not regret it.

We had an absolutely fabulous time on our tour with Petur. He was very informative and took us to everywhere that we wanted to go to. He had a wonderful Van that was very comfortable and fit all of our luggage for 8 people. This was the best day in our time in Iceland and we would recommend him to everyone that is coming to visit Iceland!!

We had a fabulous day with Petur on the golden Circle tour. He was knowledgeable and friendly. He discussed everything from the geology of the land to the “hidden people “. We had a family group and all ages had a great time. Our 5 year old was thrilled with feeding the Icelandic horses and the adults loved the geyser and the waterfall. We booked with Petur to Join the Glacier classic tour from Husafell for a tour to the Langjokull, Ice Cave and Glacier. We were picked up at the cruise terminal and had a 12 noon deadline. Petur had a very comfortable vehicle, was a safe driver, and we met our time deadline. On our return to the ship, we were dropped off at Sky Lagoon. We were a bit late and he came into the establishment with us to ensure that we would be able to maintain our appointment. Petur was very thoughtful and pleasant to spend a day with.

Petur was a very knowledgeable tour guide and especially in geology of the sights he showed us. He met us right on time from our cruise ship and took us to many interesting places that we wished to explore. His vehicle had lots of space and very comfortable. We were very pleased with the experience and would recommend him highly.

Petur is an excellent guide. He is experienced and knows how to time visits to popular sites just right (to avoid the crowds). His knowledge of Iceland is vast, and at one site another guide had his group stand and listen to Petur explain the area. The tour itself is really great because you experience in one day four different wonders of the earth. Petur also added in a few extra stops to fee horses, and enjoy ice cream .

This tour meet our expectations for a day long private Golden Circle tour. We started on time, received appropriate information about the sites we visited as well as about Iceland in general. Our guide was attentive without being overbearing. He was easy to interact with and there were absolutely no language difficulties. We made several short stops at sights he thought might interest us that were not on "the itinerary". We enjoyed an end of tour soak at the Secret Lagoon and were then expeditiously taken to our cruise ship at the port. I would recommend this activity to others hoping to avoid a bus or rigid schedule.

Our full-day Golden Circle tour with Petur was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. We couldn't have asked for a more personable and knowledgeable guide. We loved hearing his stories about the history of Iceland, the people and their way of life, Iceland's natural wonders and Petur's large multi-generational family. While we did see all the tourist stops on the Golden Circle, Petur showed us some unique places that the large tour buses cannot go. A perfect day with an amazing guide!

Our full day Iceland South Coast tour with Petur far exceeded our expectations. Our party of 6 met up with him in his beautiful new van and we all had plenty of room to spread out. Petur shared a wealth of knowledge about all things “Iceland” as well as fun, informative personal stories. We visited (and Peter joined us) all of the stops we had arranged for. Nothing surpasses the wonder of walking behind waterfalls and on or near glaciers. Petur never rushed us, in fact, our tour exceeded the time frame because Petur wanted to make sure we experienced and saw everything. We 100% recommend taking any tour with Petur - one of the best guides we have ever had!!!

A great tour around the Golden Circle to see many different sites outside of the city. A full day of traveling to all the 'famous' sights' without the crowds of a full bus tour. Well worth the long day.

A wonderful way to see the city! Went to many places and had a great overview of the history and current happens in the city and surrounding areas. Petur was great and very knowledgeable. He was also very aware for my mobility issues. Ending with a visit to his house and the sharing of Icelandic treats was a great way to top off the tour.

Combining a tour of Reykjanes peninsula with an airport pickup is convenient and a nice introduction to Iceland. This is an area where you will see recent volcanic activity and active steam vents. Petur has a large, new van that easily accommodated our party of six and luggage, comfortably. Plus, the van has USB ports so you can keep your camera phones charged for the next photo opportunity!

Petur was a great guide! Although our weather wasn't the best, we got to see all the sites on the Golden Circle. Petur is very informative and interesting. His mini van was luxurious and comfortable. He even took us to a couple extra stops for the great Icelandic hot dog! And an interesting g tomato farm. We had a great day.

What a great day out with Petur! He adapted our tour so we could take a nice hike, plus see how locals live and have fun. Love the local pools and food and beverages. The best part was how welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable Petur was.

We were very fortunate to get Petur as our tour guide for the Golden Circle tour at Reykjavik. Petur is extremely knowledgeable about not just the sites we visited as a part of this tour, but about Iceland in general. As a bonus, he told us about the Icelandic history, customs, and traditions by giving examples from his own family. It gave us a very good flavor of Iceland.
