What we do with the details you send through this website.

Who we are

Iceland with a Local is run by POM ehf. in Reykjavík. POM ehf. is responsible for the personal data described here, and you reach us at the email address at the bottom of this page.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry we get what you write in the form: your name, email, phone number if you give it, the tour, date, number of guests, pick-up place and your message. Nothing else is collected about you.

Why

Only to answer your enquiry and to arrange the tour with you. The legal basis is steps taken at your request before a contract. We never sell your details or use them for marketing.

Where it goes

Your enquiry is emailed to Pétur and a copy is kept in the website’s own storage at Vercel in Frankfurt. The email is sent through Resend and received in Gmail, both based in the United States, which receive it under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

How long

Enquiries are kept as long as it takes to answer them and run the tour, and are deleted no later than 12 months after the last message, unless accounting law requires a booking to be kept longer.

Visitor statistics

The site counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics and measures how fast its pages load with Vercel Speed Insights. Neither sets a cookie or stores anything in your browser. Vercel sees the page you open, the site you came from, your country, your type of device and your browser. It also counts clicks on the phone number, the email address and links to other sites, and when the enquiry form is opened and sent, with the tour picked in it. A repeat visit on the same day is recognised by a hash of the request, which Vercel discards after 24 hours, and we see only totals. When someone opens or sends the form, the site’s server also tells Dinta, the company that built and runs the site, which page it was on, the language and the tour. It never sends your name, email, message, IP address or anything else about you. The legal basis for counting is our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used. There are no advertising or social media trackers on the site.

Your rights

You can ask to see the details we have about you, have them corrected or deleted, and complain to Persónuvernd, the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, at personuvernd.is.
