About us
I’m born in Iceland and I have been living here my whole life, except for three years I lived in Sweden as a young boy. I’m as local as they get and financially independent and that means I can occupy myself with whatever I want to do, and I like being a guide showing guests from other countries our magnificent island with all its natural wonders. I had been working as a QESH manager for the Coca-Cola Company here in Iceland. Now some of you might wonder what QESH stands for. That is Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety. I had been working there for far too long, so I resigned and decided to become a guide. This was eight years ago, and I founded my own little company with me as the only employee and bought a bus. Initially, the plan was to be a guide full time But with the wise words from my wife saying don’t put all your eggs in one basket I also decided to also accept an offer to become a lead auditor auditing quality-, environmental. and health and safety management system in various companies. Because of this I’m working as a guide and auditor about 50/50. This is also very interesting and gives me the flexibility and variety in my life. It is hard to get the attention of travellers coming to Iceland. There are big companies in this business that catch them in their nets long before I have a chance. Now I’m trying to change that and here I am making my own tours to places I know so well. Most of my tours are like what others are offering. People like to visit the same places so it’s impossible to avoid that.
But one of my tours is different. I like to take you out of the crowd and into my world and let you feel how it is to be an Icelander. I like to bring you through the areas I was born and raised and then to other parts of Reykjavik including the neighboring towns you would probably otherwise not visit. I will show you where Icelanders have lunch and you can eat as much as you like. We will visit the wonderful open-air museum with old houses that have been saved from destruction and moved there from the center of Reykjavik, all with their own stories. You get to learn everything about our unique geothermal swimming pools and take a swim and finally I will invite you to my home. You haven’t been to Iceland before you have done this.
Remember you are on a tour with the owner of the company. If you like to complain the easy but hopefully it´s more the other way around. many think the private tours are expensive and of cause, they are compared with tours in big groups. But I can take up to 12 people on a tour with all the luggage they bring with them so in the end, the difference might not be so much.
